Tinker Ethical TechLab

Tinker Ethical TechLab is a research project that I started together with mu colleague Jolijn Friederichs, born from the need for more space for ethical reflection within IT education. It serves as an experimental environment where we develop methodologies for ethics education through hands-on technology experimentation. Here, we combine our passion for speculative design, interactive systems, and technology ethics.

This research project serves as a foundation for the development of the Dark Tech Studio.

Dark Tech Studio

One of the first concrete implementations is the Dark Tech Studio: an interdisciplinary studio where creative technologists, front-end developers, and digital business engineers explore ethical boundaries of emerging technologies through provocative prototyping, We develop this together with our colleague Dolinde van Beek. We expect to be starting in September 2025, with around 100 students.
The project is partly funded by the Centre of Expertise Creative Innovation at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences.
